* Damaged
Sculpin, severely damaged by depth charge attacks, surfaced and went to gun action with the enemy. Sculpin took several direct hits that caused severe damage, killing the captain and several others in the crew. The decision to scuttle the sub was made. On November 19, 1943 Sculpin opened all vents and dove at full throttle, 12 men rode her down never to surface.
