Springer was decommissioned on June 26, 1946 and placed in Fleet Reserve until Sept. 06, 1951 when she was recommissioned. Springer was again decommissioned on Nov. 14, 1952. She was once more returned to active service on June 26, 1953 and remained in service until she was loaned to Chile on Jan. 23, 1961. Chile returned Springer to US control and she was struck from the Ships Lists on Sept. 01, 1972 when she was sold for scrap.
