Meritorious Unit Commendation
Flasher was awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation for services rendered during the time period of March 1967 through August 1968.
I was stationed aboard Flasher until June of 1968 when I left for Treasure Island to be separated from the Navy.

Flasher earned a total of 5 of the coveted "E's" for excellence. A Presidential Unit Commendation. 3 Meritorious Unit Commendations. The Navy Unit Commendation. I have learned also that Flasher rescued 27 refugees from a sinking boat and this earned Flasher a Humanitaian Award. Though there was no "hot" war Flasher served in the "cold war" with distinction and earned honors any crew from the first Flasher would be proud of also.
